Mirador El Cochino: A Great Spot for Nature Fans
Mirador El Cochino is an easy escape into nature, just minutes away from Málaga city. At 750 meters above sea level, this viewpoint treats you to wide views over the bay and the surrounding hills. It's the perfect spot for a walk, bike ride, run, or a relaxing break in the fresh air.
Why It's Called El Cochino
The name "El Cochino" means "The Wild Boar" in Spanish. It's inspired by a striking metal artwork of a boar, created by artist Francisco Martín. He made it from scrap metal he found in the park. Now it’s one of the most recognizable features at the viewpoint.
What You’ll See Around You
The area is full of life. The landscape is dominated by pine trees, holm oaks, cork oaks, and honeysuckle. You’ll also spot fennel and mossy oaks. Look closer and you’ll find bitter chamomile, mint, and small wild herbs.
Animals? There are plenty. Chameleons, Moorish tortoises, wild boars, foxes, and even weasels. And if you look up, there’s a good chance you’ll spot birds of prey gliding overhead.
Getting to Mirador El Cochino
You’ve got two main options to get there. The first one starts at Venta El Boticario. Follow the main path to the El Cerrado picnic area, then continue up to the viewpoint.
The second option is easier by car. Drive along the A-7000 road (formerly the 345). At kilometer 16, take a left onto a forest track. That’ll bring you straight to Mirador El Cochino.
A Must for Outdoor Days
Whether you're in the mood for a peaceful moment in nature or a day full of fresh air and movement, Mirador El Cochino is a great choice. It’s easy to reach, full of wildlife, and has views that are worth the trip every time.
