Los Reyes Magos, also called the Three Wise Men, play a big role in Spanish Christmas traditions. This celebration honors the three men who, according to the Bible, visited the newborn Jesus. It’s a key moment in Spain’s festive season.

Big plans are on the table in Fuengirola. The town has announced a full renovation of Las Presas Park, a green gem in the Torreblanca area. Thanks to leftover funds from the 2023 municipal budget, the project is ready to go. Even the path that leads from the park to the beach is getting a serious upgrade.
A park with a story to tell
Las Presas Park isn’t just any park. It has history, charm, and a walking trail that many locals still remember fondly. But years of storms and flooding have taken their toll. During a visit, mayor Ana Mula highlighted the need for action. She called the park one of Fuengirola’s most scenic spots, now in urgent need of restoration.
The renovation comes with paperwork. Because the park includes a streambed, the town must coordinate with the Junta de Andalucía. That means more administration and a longer process. Still, the mayor assured that the works will begin "soon."
More nature, better access
This isn’t just a quick makeover. The plan includes planting more native trees and upgrading all wooden structures and equipment. The main highlight? A 1.8-kilometer-long path will be rebuilt to improve access. A new 1.5-meter-wide walkway ensures a smoother, safer walk for everyone. Two new wooden bridges, each six meters long, will also help you cross the stream with ease.
Budget and timeline
The project has a clear price tag: €454,049.87. All of it covered by the 2023 municipal surplus. The execution period is set at 90 days. Contractors can submit their bids until Thursday, July 11.
According to mayor Mula, the project responds directly to local demand. “It’s something residents of Torreblanca have long been waiting for,” she said. “And it’s made possible thanks to responsible financial management.”
Fuengirola is getting ready to bring one of its favourite natural areas back to life. And when the dust settles, Las Presas Park will once again be a space to enjoy nature, take a walk, and breathe easy.
