Festival del Mar returns to La Herradura with waves of hope

After a three-year break, Festival del Mar is back in La Herradura. On Friday 6 and Saturday 7 October, this coastal town in the province of Granada becomes the stage for a two-day celebration of the sea. Expect fun, facts, and fresh air — all thanks to the passionate work of Amigos del Mar Costa Tropical.

A festival with a mission

This year’s theme? A Sea of Hope. And that’s more than just a catchy name. The festival puts the spotlight on ocean conservation and the urgent need to protect our marine ecosystems. It’s a serious topic, but presented in a way that’s engaging for all ages.

Where ideas meet action

One of the key events is the roundtable at the local community centre. Scientists, sea lovers, and concerned citizens come together to talk about the current state of the oceans. Expect real conversations, real ideas, and practical solutions. It’s about more than raising awareness — it’s about building momentum.

Sea-themed fun for everyone

The serious stuff is balanced with plenty of fun. Visitors can dive into workshops on marine biology, take boat tours, or go snorkelling. You’ll learn something new while getting a fresh look at the beautiful Costa Tropical coastline.

Kids become ocean ambassadors

There’s also a strong focus on younger guests. Interactive displays, hands-on activities, and child-friendly talks help kids get excited about the ocean. The goal? To spark a lifelong passion for the sea and the life it supports.

Music, culture, and evening vibes

As the sun sets over La Herradura, the festival shifts into a more relaxed gear. Live music, cultural performances, and the sound of waves create the perfect backdrop for a coastal evening with a message.

A community with a cause

Festival del Mar is more than a weekend getaway. It’s a reminder that the sea connects us all. And by protecting it, we protect our future. So bring your friends, bring your kids, and bring your curiosity. La Herradura is ready to welcome you for a weekend of sea, science, and shared purpose.
