In the province of Córdoba lies Bujalance, a town where Andalusian architecture and rich history go hand in hand. Recognized as a Historic-Artistic Heritage Site since 1983, it stands out for its coherent urban layout and its characteristic white houses, narrow alleys, and impressive churches. Bujalance was even nominated for the list of the Seven Wonders of the Province of Córdoba – and for good reason.

Feria del Caballo in Jerez de la Frontera: horses, music, and sherry

From 4 to 11 May 2024, Jerez de la Frontera transforms into a colourful festival city. The Feria del Caballo takes over Parque González Hontoria with horses, flamenco, sherry, and lots of locals in traditional dress. It’s one of the most celebrated fairs in Andalusia—and for good reason.
Expect a week full of energy, elegance, and everything that makes southern Spain so irresistible.
Spanish horses steal the show
The real stars of the Feria are the horses. And not just any horses. Think majestic Pura Raza Española and Cartujana breeds, styled to perfection and trotting with pride. They parade through the fairgrounds and the streets, often accompanied by riders in traditional Andalusian outfits.
You’ll also spot horse-drawn carriages gliding past the casetas—private party tents open to everyone during the Feria.
Competitions for the true fans
If you’re into showmanship, don’t miss the Concours d'Attelages. This is where horse and carriage combos compete for elegance and control. Prefer raw beauty and strength? Then the Morfological Contest is for you.
Still not enough? There’s more. From classical dressage to cowboy-style riding and herding demos—there’s horse action from morning till night.
Food, music, and all-night dancing
It wouldn’t be Jerez without food and wine. Expect plates of jamón, tortilla, grilled meats, and more. And of course, Jerez’s famous sherry flows freely all week long.
As the sun sets, the volume goes up. Live flamenco music fills the air and spontaneous dancing breaks out everywhere. Partying continues well into the night, so pace yourself.
Feria del Caballo: a local favourite with global appeal
Jerez doesn’t just celebrate horses—it lives and breathes them. The Feria del Caballo is a mix of deep-rooted tradition and open-armed hospitality. Whether you come for the horses, the food, or the flamenco, you’ll leave with memories that smell like sherry and sound like hooves.
