A historical gem reimagined. That’s what the new Castillo de San Luis Museum in Estepona is all about. Once a mighty fortress under King Philip II, now a modern museum experience. After years of careful restoration, the castle is finally ready to welcome visitors. And trust us, it’s worth the wait.

A fortress with a story

Built in the late 16th century, Castillo de San Luis once reinforced the medieval walls of Estepona. Back then, it protected the town from invasions and supported local growth. Over time, the fortress disappeared behind houses and streets. Until now.

The newly revealed structure brings the medieval past back to life. You can almost feel the history in the stone walls.

A fresh new look

Thanks to local conservation efforts, part of the original fortress wall is now beautifully restored. And not just for show. It’s become a museum space where old meets new. From architecture to storytelling, everything inside is designed to spark your curiosity.

What you’ll find inside

Expect more than just bricks and walls. The museum offers interactive exhibits, historical artefacts and clear info panels. You’ll learn how Castillo de San Luis helped shape the city. There will also be temporary exhibitions, so there’s always something new to see.

Good to know before you go

Whether you’re into history, love old buildings or just want a cool spot for a day out — this museum is a must-visit. The exact opening date is coming soon. Keep an eye on Estepona’s official channels for updates, events and ticket info.
