Antiguo Hospital de la Caridad in Coín: A historic building with a modern twist

Antiguo Hospital de la Caridad

A building full of stories

In the centre of Coín stands a striking building with centuries of history. The Antiguo Hospital de la Caridad and the Iglesia de San Andrés have been part of the town’s identity since the 16th century. After a full renovation of more than 1,500 square metres, the complex now has a new purpose and a fresh look.

Since November 2024, the building has been open again. It's no longer just a monument from the past. It now plays an active role in the cultural life of the town.

Where culture meets history

This is the new home of the Culture Department of Coín. Since January 2025, it has served as a base for local projects, exhibitions and events. The old San Andrés church is still available for ceremonies, but it mainly functions as a multi-use cultural space.

On the ground floor, you’ll find a public area and a gallery for exhibitions. Upstairs, the offices are hard at work supporting local culture.

Restoration with respect for the past

Every part of the renovation shows attention to detail. The wooden ceilings in the altar area have been carefully restored. The path to the old cloister has been reopened. And the central patio is back in full use.

Old meets new in a smart layout that respects the building’s structure. It’s a space that feels both historic and current.

Planning your visit

The complex is open Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 14:00. You’ll find it at Calle Doctor Palomo y Anaya 33 in Coín. Got questions? Send an email to cultura@coin.es or call 952 45 33 77.

A historical landmark that's ready for the future — right in the centre of Coín.
