Playas Maro

"The sun kisses the horizon, while the waves whisper about the secret stories of the Playas de Maro."
Maro

Maro: Small Village, Grand Views

Maro is one of those places where you instantly switch to relax mode. This little village on Spain’s southern coast is perfectly tucked between the sea and the mountains. It’s an easy drive from Nerja, and once you arrive, chances are you won’t want to leave. Picture whitewashed houses, narrow streets, and a view that deserves its own postcard.

But Maro offers more than just charm. The famous Nerja Caves are just around the corner, giving you a glimpse into a time when Wi-Fi wasn’t even a concept. On the edge of the village, you’ll find cozy tapas bars where the smell of grilled sardines and freshly baked bread fills the air.

Whether you're curling up with a book under an olive tree or exploring the area with your camera: enjoying life in Maro comes naturally.

The Beaches of Maro: Sun, Sea, and Zero Stress

In and around Maro, you’ll find beaches that are all about peace and quiet. No loud beach clubs here — just nature, space, and crystal-clear water.

Playa de Maro

Playa de Maro is the most popular beach nearby — and for good reason. Think turquoise water, soft sand, and cliffs that make you feel like you've stepped into a movie set. The only sounds you’ll hear are the waves and maybe an excited snorkeler shouting, “Look, an octopus!”

Playa de las Alberquillas

A little further west, you'll find Playa de las Alberquillas. This beach is much quieter, ideal if crowds aren’t your thing. The coastline is a bit wilder here, with rocks and little coves — perfect for a day of sunbathing or snorkeling among the fish.

Playa del Cañuelo

To reach Playa del Cañuelo, you’ll follow a trail through a nature reserve. It takes a bit of effort, but it’s totally worth it. Think golden sand, sparkling water, and green hills in the background. You won’t find beach loungers here, but there’s plenty of room to lay your towel without your neighbor stepping on your toes.

Why Maro Should Be on Your List

Looking for a place where you can truly switch off? Where you can choose between nature, culture, or a good glass of wine on a sunny terrace? Then Maro is your spot. Here, you set the pace — whether you're after peace, adventure, or a little bit of both.
