Museum of Cádiz: Art, History, and Archaeology Under One Roof

The Museum of Cádiz is a place where art, history, and archaeology come together. Housed in a neoclassical building that was once part of the Convent of San Francisco, the museum offers three fascinating sections: Archaeology, Fine Arts, and Ethnography. Here, you embark on a journey through time, from Phoenician relics to Spanish masterpieces.

Archaeological Treasures and Baroque Masterpieces

The ground floor is a treasure trove for archaeology enthusiasts. The highlights include two Phoenician anthropoid sarcophagi, unique discoveries that offer a glimpse into the earliest history of Cádiz. Additionally, impressive Roman artifacts are on display. The Baroque paintings in the museum halls, featuring works by greats such as Zurbarán, Rubens, and Murillo, provide a striking contrast to the archaeological finds.

Fine Arts: From the 16th to the 20th Century

On the upper floor, the focus is on painting. Here, visitors can admire works from the 16th to the 20th century, with special attention given to historical and costume paintings from the 19th century.
