Sohrlin Andalucía, the theatre school founded by Antonio Banderas, right by the western seafront. Caballerizas Reales de Córdoba: A Historical Icon
The Royal Stables of Córdoba (Caballerizas Reales) were built in 1572 by order of King Philip II to breed high-quality horses for the royal service. The complex is located right next to the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos and was managed by D. Diego López de Haro, the then Chief Royal Horseman (Caballerizo Mayor).
Impressive Architecture
In 1734, a devastating fire severely damaged the original structure, leaving only the outer and inner walls standing. Eleven years later, under the reign of Ferdinand VI, the stables were rebuilt. The structure remained largely intact, with the addition of King Charles III’s coat of arms above the main entrance.
One of the most striking features is the stable, once described by García Lorca as a "cathedral for horses." The space is divided into three naves, supported by arches and sturdy stone pillars, ensuring optimal ventilation and durability.
From Cavalry Barracks to Cultural Heritage
Starting in 1842, the complex was repurposed as a cavalry barracks. Until 1995, the 7th Army Depot housed over a hundred Andalusian and Arabian horses, used for dressage, carriage work, and breeding of military and civilian mares.

Today, the site hosts the "Pasión y Duende del Caballo Andaluz" horse show. This spectacular event attracts visitors of all ages, showcasing the grace and power of the Andalusian horse.
