Benajarafe: Sun, Sea, and a Touch of History

Benajarafe, located on the Costa del Sol, combines a relaxed coastal atmosphere with a hint of history. The name dates back to the Middle Ages and refers to an Arabic personal name. Today, the village stretches along the N-340, featuring a lively coastline and a quieter inland area, Benajarafe Alto.

Beaches with Quality Certifications

With a beach nearly two kilometers long and distinctions such as the Blue Flag, the Q Tourism Quality Certificate, and the Ecoplaya certification, Benajarafe is an attractive destination for sun lovers. The fine sand and facilities make it an ideal place to relax or take a stroll along the shoreline.

Historical Landmark: Torre Gorda or Moya

Beyond the beach, the 18th-century watchtower, Torre Gorda or Moya, stands out. This defensive structure sits on a small hill directly along the N-340 and is an example of a pezuña tower, with a semicircular base and characteristic stone points. It is a fascinating remnant from a time when coastal defense was essential.

Benajarafe Alto: Tranquility and Nature

Inland, Benajarafe Alto offers a different side of the village. Here, farms and hamlets alternate, away from the hustle and bustle of the coast. The connection to the N-340 ensures that the area remains easily accessible while maintaining its rural charm.

Tips

Also nice villages/cities to visit in the area are: Torre del Mar, Vélez-Málaga, Rincón de la Victoria | turismo

A Pleasant Blend of Coast and Culture

Benajarafe is more than just a beach destination. The combination of an extensive coastline, historical elements, and a peaceful inland area makes it a versatile spot on the Costa del Sol. Whether you come for the sun, the history, or the rural charm, Benajarafe has something for everyone.
