El Balcón del Coño: A Unique Name for a Stunning View

Sometimes, places are given names that immediately spark curiosity. El Balcón del Coño (literally "Balcony of the Vagina") is a perfect example. This rather unusual name is used for viewpoints in both Arcos de la Frontera and Ronda. But why this name? And what makes these spots so special?

El Balcón del Coño in Ronda

Ronda, located in the province of Málaga, also has its own Balcón del Coño. This viewpoint offers a spectacular view of the deep gorge carved by the Tajo River. The iconic Puente Nuevo (New Bridge) connects the old and new parts of the city and is one of the most photographed landmarks in Andalusia.

Beyond its breathtaking views, Ronda has much to offer. The city boasts a rich history, with Moorish influences still visible in its architecture. The Plaza de Toros, one of Spain's oldest bullrings, and the historic center with its charming streets make Ronda a truly unique destination.

Why This Name?

In Spain, the expression Balcón del Coño is an informal way of saying that something is so astonishing it leaves you speechless. Visitors who suddenly find themselves face to face with the deep ravine or the vast landscape often react with an instinctive exclamation. As a result, these viewpoints remain memorable not only for their views but also for their striking name.
