Alevante - Chiclana de la Frontera

Michelin star restaurant: **
Alevante
“Alevante's culinary masterpiece in Chiclana de la Frontera, awarded with Michelin stars, enchants every sensory journey and brings to life the essence of refined flavors.”

Sea on Your Plate: Alevante in Chiclana de la Frontera

Alevante doesn’t serve just any meal. It offers a dining experience that immerses you in the flavors of the Atlantic coast. Located in the Gran Meliá Sancti Petri hotel in Chiclana de la Frontera, this restaurant is a serene oasis with a minimalist and nautical-inspired interior. Hemp rope curtains, fish-shaped accents, and soft colors create a calming atmosphere at the table. Even without a view of the beach, you can almost taste the salty breeze.

Ángel León, the man behind the magic

Chef Ángel León, also known as “the chef of the sea,” is internationally renowned for his innovative dishes using ingredients from the underwater world. Alevante is his gastronomic outpost alongside the famous Aponiente in El Puerto de Santa María. Here, he shows that fish, plankton, and seagrass can be much more than supporting acts. With his Planeta Agua menu, he presents a series of surprises that blur the line between science and gastronomy — including bites served at the entrance, paired with local wines from Chiclana.

From sea cucumber to plankton ice cream

In the dining room, everything revolves around what the sea has to offer. Think sea urchin, mackerel, shrimp, and even dogfish. Each dish is presented like a miniature work of art, with textures that shift and flavors that feel either familiar or almost otherworldly. The menu changes with the seasons, but the seaweed tarte tatin with croissant ice cream is the kind of dish that sticks with you — quite literally.

For food lovers with sea legs

Alevante is for those who see gastronomy as an adventure. The service is perfectly polished without being stiff. And although the atmosphere is understated, every detail reflects a deep respect for the sea. Whether you’re a seasoned foodie or simply enjoy a little thrill on your plate, Alevante lets you experience the ocean — no wet feet required.
